Terms of Service

Last updated October 11, 2026

Sill is free and open source. There is no account, no payment and no service running anywhere: the apps run on your own Mac, iPhone and iPad. These terms say what you may expect from them, and what they ask of you.

They cover Sill for Mac, the Sill app for iPhone and iPad (together, Sill) and this website, getsill.app. Sill is made by Noah Saffer. By downloading or using Sill you agree to these terms.

The short version

The license

Sill’s source code is published at github.com/Saffsanity/sill under the Apache License 2.0. That license governs the source, the builds you make from it, and Sill for Mac as downloaded from this site, which is a build of that source. You may use, copy, change and share Sill under its terms.

The Sill app you install from the App Store is a build of the same source. Apple’s standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement applies to it, as it does to every app from the App Store. Nothing in it narrows what the Apache License lets you do with the source.

Price

Sill costs nothing. Neither app sells anything, asks for a payment or offers an in-app purchase, and neither needs an account. If you want to support the work, there is a tip jar through GitHub Sponsors; a tip is a gift, buys nothing in the apps, and is handled by GitHub under GitHub’s own terms.

What Sill does, and what it asks of you

Sill shows your Mac’s screen on your iPhone or iPad and sends what you do there back to the Mac as clicks, scrolls, gestures and keystrokes. To do that, Sill for Mac needs the Screen Recording and Accessibility permissions it asks for, and the apps need Local Network access to find each other. You choose what to stream, which devices to pair, and whether to turn on Direct Wireless Connection or Remote Access.

A paired device can see whatever you stream and control your Mac as you can, so pair only devices you trust, keep pairing codes to yourself, and remove a device in Sill’s Settings › Devices on your Mac when it should no longer connect. Use Sill only with Macs you own or are allowed to control, on networks you are allowed to use. Keep your Mac, your devices and Sill up to date.

No warranty

Sill is provided as is and as available, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, as the Apache License 2.0 says in its section 7. Sill streams video over networks you choose, so the developer cannot promise any latency, picture quality or availability, and cannot promise that every Mac app or every network setup will work.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, and as the Apache License 2.0 says in its section 8, the developer is not liable for any damages arising from the use of Sill or of this website, including loss of data, loss of work, or damage from what is shown on or done to your Mac through a paired device. Where the law does not allow a liability to be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid for Sill, which is nothing.

Privacy

Sill collects nothing and sends nothing to the developer. The Privacy Policy describes what travels between your own devices, what each app keeps on the device it runs on, and the one request Sill for Mac makes to GitHub to check for updates.
