Sill for Mac

Sill for Mac shares your windows with the Sill app on your iPhone and iPad. It’s free, and you get it here, not from the Mac App Store.

The first public build of Sill for Mac is being prepared. The download and its checksum will appear here when it is ready.

Install

Double-click the download to unzip it, if your browser hasn’t already.
Drag Sill to your Applications folder.
Open Sill from your Applications folder.

Sill is notarized: Apple has checked it for malicious software, so it opens with a double-click. The first time, macOS asks whether you want to open an app you downloaded from the internet. Click Open.

The first time you open it

Sill lives in the menu bar at the top of your screen, not in the Dock. It opens its settings on Permissions and asks for two things:

Screen Recording, so it can show the windows you pick on your iPhone or iPad. Nothing is recorded or saved. After you allow it, macOS offers to quit and reopen Sill. Choose Quit & Reopen.
Accessibility, so your iPhone or iPad can click, scroll and type on your Mac, and so Sill can move and size the window it shows.

If macOS asks whether Sill can find devices on your local network, click Allow. Then open Sill on your iPhone or iPad and tap your Mac.

Check the download

To make sure your copy is the one published here, open Terminal, type shasum -a 256 and a space, drag the zip into the window and press Return. It should print the same SHA-256 as above.

Update

Sill doesn’t update itself. To update, quit Sill from its menu, download the new version here and replace the old one in your Applications folder. Your settings and permissions stay.

Uninstall

Quit Sill from its menu and move it to the Trash. The privacy policy says how to remove the settings and log it leaves behind.
